Just another new chapter
Our colleague Olivera Brdarić, a painter-conservator consultant, has opened a new chapter in her life by retiring. Like any true professional, she continued to acquire new knowledge with the same enthusiasm until the end, so we believe that she will fill her retirement days, in addition to family love, health and joy, with further development of her professional competencies and scientific curiosity. Born in 1960, Olivera graduated from the Conservatory Department of the Higher Pedagogical School in Belgrade in 1982. She completed the Faculty of Fine Arts, Department of Painting, in the class of Momčilo Antonović, in 1988, and then in 1989, one year of postgraduate studies, Department of Painting, in the class of Milica Stevanović. Olivera Brdarić's work history is more than impressive. She began working in the conservation and restoration of cultural property while still a student, and began working at the Provincial Institute in 1994. During her career, she participated in over sixty projects, research and conservation and restoration work to protect cultural heritage (iconostases, church interiors, frescoes, paintings by our most famous artists), very often as a manager. She published her professional knowledge and fresh ideas in the form of papers in scientific journals such as "Materials for the Study of Cultural Monuments of Vojvodina", "Collection of Papers" of the Matica Srpska Gallery, "Archeon" and "Glasnik" of the Serbian Society of Conservators. She combined her love for new generations and her profession in mentoring young conservators, many of whom are now successful experts themselves. As head of the Department for the Conservation of Works of Fine and Applied Art of the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, she fought like a lion for the welfare and progress of her sector.
