Monuments of the National Liberation War – a culture of remembrance
"The modern approach and relationship towards one's own natural and physical environment, towards the place of life, are determined not only by the assessment of its daily purpose and usability, but also by the understanding and cognition of its values as a setting, framework and scene of countless examples of tragedy, heroism, epic or lyricism of the life of a person and the people of a specific space and time, the echoes of which we carry and wish to preserve within ourselves today and in the future." Jovan Maček The significance and number of monuments of the national liberation wars in Vojvodina oblige us to preserve them, taking all necessary measures for the fullest and most comprehensive protection within the framework of the entire cultural heritage. The expert service of the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, Petrovaradin has completed 3D scanning and technical recording of the memorial obelisk in the center of Bački Petrovac dedicated to the fighters of the National Liberation War for the purposes of developing project documentation and preparing future conservation and restoration works.
