Karlovac statues from the 19th century

The Roman Catholic Church of the Holy Trinity, one of the most significant and valuable buildings in the old core of Sremski Karlovci, built in 1768 in the Baroque style, is part of a spatial cultural and historical entity of exceptional importance for the Republic of Serbia.

The Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Petrovaradin began work on the renovation of the furnishings of the Roman Catholic church in 2025, when the statue of the Virgin Mary located on the altar was restored.

During 2026, the statue of Jesus Christ was also restored, and both statues were made in Ferdinand Stüfleser's workshop at the end of the 19th century.

Conservation and restoration works were carried out by Zoran Barišić, painter-conservator, and Lazar Čurčić, sculptor-conservator. The continuation of the work will include the altar located at the entrance to the church.
