We take care of Hilandar

Continuing work on the restoration of the Throne of the Virgin Mary from the Milutin's narthex of the Cathedral Church of the Hilandar Monastery, conservators of the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, Petrovaradin completed the woodcarving and gilding works in November 2025. years.

These activities followed on from the work completed in April, during the previous working visit of the Institute's team of experts to the monastery, when structural conservation of the wooden support, conservation of the carved decoration and structural conservation of the gum-chalk base for gilding were carried out.

The conservation and restoration of Christ's throne from Milutin's narthex are planned to continue. The conservation was carried out by sculptor-conservator Lazar Čurčić and painter-conservator Milan Bajčetić, while the project manager is painter-conservator Siniša Zeković.
