Culture of memory

The works on the investment maintenance of the Memorial Park to the Thessaloniki Volunteers and other founders of Nova Crvenka have been completed, representing a continuation of many years of cooperation between the Ministry of Labor, Employment, Veterans' and Social Affairs and the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments on the protection of cultural heritage and the preservation of the culture of memory of war memorials in the liberation wars of the Republic of Serbia.

Current and investment maintenance included several groups of works: Work on the plateau and paths: The damaged concrete and behaton layers were removed, then the terrain was planned and the slope was adjusted for the walking paths. New paths leading to the bell were laid and the existing plateau was paved with white behaton, thus achieving visual unity with the white stone pedestal on which the figure of the Thessaloniki soldier is located.

In order for the bell tower to shine in its full glory again, the worn-out materials on the roof were replaced, the wooden walls were repaired, and the steel structure was protected from corrosion. All rotten wooden parts were replaced and new waterproofing was installed, the roof was tiled and covered with copper sheet metal.

Restoration of the Monument to the Thessaloniki Volunteers: The bronze figure of the soldier and the pedestal were carefully washed, cleaned, and protected. Protective coatings were applied to all key surfaces, including the two bronze plaques with inscriptions. Urban furniture arrangement: Old furniture was replaced, and more benches, trash cans, and a new flagpole were added.

The memorial park now has a more beautiful and functional space for all visitors to enjoy.
