Archaeology: connecting the present with the past

The 48th Assembly of the Serbian Archaeological Society and the annual gathering of archaeologists were held at the Trebinje Museum of Herzegovina, which brought together around 300 regional and international experts in this field.

During the three days of the conference, papers in the field of archaeology were presented, sections were held for prehistoric, classical, medieval archaeology, and sections for the protection of archaeological heritage, bioarchaeology, as well as sessions on the topics: archaeological research, protection and cultural perspectives of fortifications and defense systems in the Balkans, and innovative remote sensing technologies in archaeology.

The conference featured 88 expert papers and lasted from Thursday, May 29 to Saturday, May 31, with the participation of archaeologists-conservators from the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments, Petrovaradin. Colleague Slobodan Radovanović presented the results of the protective archaeological excavations of two medieval settlements on the route of the local road Sivac-Stapar.
