Preparations for the opening of the Treasury of Krušedol Monastery

As part of the preparations for the opening of the permanent exhibition of the Treasury of Krušedol Monastery, an analysis of the current state of the artifacts was carried out, documentary photographs were taken, as well as photographs for the publication that will be printed on the occasion of the opening.

The Treasury will contain objects of exceptional cultural, historical and sacral value, including a silver throne cross with filigree work, silver wedding crowns, boxes for relics, reliquaries and caskets, chalices, bracelets made of silk and brocade with silver and gold threads. In addition to liturgical objects and textiles, visitors to the Treasury will have the opportunity to view objects from the estate of King Milan Obrenović, his pillow with gold-embroidered initials, the shirt in which he slept, a silver-plated tray and a silver teapot, and the tombstone cross of King Milan and Stefan Šupljica.

The project for preparing the opening of the Treasury is being attended by the rector of the Serbian Orthodox Seminary of Saint Arsenius in Sremski Karlovci, Archpriest-Staurophorus Jovan Milanović, as coordinator on behalf of His Holiness Vasilije, Metropolitan of Sremski Karlovci, Father Mitrofan, representative of the monastery brotherhood, Dr. Gordana Petković, historian of the Museum of the City of Novi Sad, Marija Erdelji, cameraman of the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments Petrovaradin, and Radovan Sremac, master historian. Sava Stražmeshterov, architect-conservator, is designing the space in which the collection will be housed, while the director of the Provincial Institute, Dr. Vladimir Kubet, is one of the members of the Committee for the opening of the Treasury.
