Chapel of the Nikolić family
The Nikolić family chapel at the Čerat cemetery in Sremski Karlovci, built in 1903 according to a project by architect Vladimir Nikolić and painted by painter Uroš Predić, is a cultural monument of exceptional importance. In order to protect the building, conservation and restoration works were carried out on the roof of the chapel, as a continuation of the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments' continuous care for this valuable building. The works included the dismantling of the damaged roof covering, the part of the roof that was not covered by the works from 2015, the repair and replacement of worn-out, rotten elements of the roof structure, the installation of new formwork, roof foil, as well as the installation of a new copper sheet covering, which completely solved the problem of leakage. The drainage system was also repaired. All interventions were carried out in accordance with the principles of protection of immovable cultural heritage and with the use of appropriate materials and technologies.
