Reduced form and email varnish: Exhibition of sculptures by Karl Baranyi at the Cultural Center of Novi Sad

On Monday, January 12, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., the exhibition "Reduced Form and EmailLacquer" dedicated to the sculptural work of Karl Barányi (Barányi Károly) opened at the Cultural Center of Novi Sad.

The exhibition presents a selection of Karl's sculptures, small and medium-sized, designed to function as a whole in a reduced, salon-like scale, but also to display the full expressive power of these works. The installation allows visitors to take a focused look at Baranji's work, in which enamel varnish does not function simply as a finishing layer, but as an active artistic element that defines and transforms the sculpture.

The exhibition is complemented by the author's photographs by Maria Erdelji, which not only document the sculptures through the medium of photography, but also further interpret them, presenting larger-format details and emphasizing the vibrancy of the enamel color through a carefully thought-out play of light and shadow.

The realization of this exhibition raises the question of the contemporary valuation of artistic heritage and its reintroduction into public and cultural space.

The exhibition "Reduced Form and Enamel Lacquer" is being realized within the framework of the TIMSUM2 project, which is implemented through the Interreg VI-A IPA Programme Hungary-Serbia 2021-2027, with the aim of contemporary interpretation of artistic heritage and strengthening cross-border cultural cooperation between institutions and art scenes in the region. The exhibition was supported by the Municipality of Temerin. The editor-in-chief of the exhibition is Dr. Vladimir Kubet, curator Luka Kulić.

The staff of the Provincial Institute for the Protection of Cultural Monuments supported this important project with their presence at the opening.

The exhibition will be open to visitors from January 12 to 19, 2026. years.
